On the girls side the Cougars came home in 4th out of 15 teams. Many of the more experienced girls were not in the lineup for the Cougars but a younger and inexperienced lineup stepped up for a strong finish with many of them scoring at the varsity level for the first time. The top seven runners were Addison Puck, Mia Brown, Hayley Prokop, Adeline Hauck, Claudia Spence and Annie Dudley.

Next week the Cougars are in action on Tuesday at Eaton Rapids and Friday at MSU.

Boys Win Bishop Cup and Girls Finish Third at Michigan Catholic XC Invite

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Cougar boys won the Michigan Catholic Invitational and captured the fifth straight Bishop’s Cup for Lansing Catholic.  Leading the way for the boys team were Will Peters, Eric Warriner and Eli Meder. They finished in 5th, 6th and 7th place. The Cougars number-four runner was freshman Josh Frary in 11th place with Colin Cooper completing the top-five in 18th place. The boys finished with 47 points, easily outdistancing runners-up Detroit Catholic Central.

In the girls race Jaden Theis and Lauren Cleary finished in 1st and 2nd and Rachel Reid finished in 8th,  Mia Brown in 23rd and Sophia Weitzel in 25th place rounded out the top-five for the Cougars. Jaden’s winning time of 17:25 was a course record and broke the previous course record set last year by Olivia Theis.  Lauren Cleary in four years of running the Michigan Catholic finished in 3rd place twice, fourth once and now second, a very impressive record in what is traditionally a very strong field every year. The girls finished with 59 points behind Notre Dame Prep with 50 and Dearborn Divine Child with 46.

In the JV race the Cougar girls finished 2nd place with a top-five of Addison Puck, Annie Dudley, Adeline Hauck, Lauren Bower and Marissa Haraburda.  In the boys two-mile race freshman Cam Haraburda was the winner.
